We’re building our whenua (land) rejuvenation team and looking for someone awesome to join us in the brand-new role of Kaitorete Ranger.
This is an exciting, hands-on role to support the implementation of our world-leading kaupapa to ensure Kaitorete is healed, rejuvenated and nourished for future generations, in a way that is connected to and compatible with our aerospace kaupapa.
You will report to the Head of Whenua Planning and Rejuvenation to help deliver the aspirations of Tāwhaki for whānau, hapū and the wider community.
This is a full-time contract role. You’ll be based at our HQ in Ōtautahi (Christchurch) and frequently at our site located at Kaitorete, 50 minutes’ from the CBD. Kaitorete is a unique cultural landscape that has internationally recognised ecological value.
The ideal person will have experience in:
– ecological restoration and land management including habitat protection and enhancement
– relationship management and working with others on kaupapa Māori initiatives
– cultural monitoring to ensure whenua activities maintain the integrity of places and taonga with cultural significance
Formally established in 2021, Tāwhaki is a joint venture partnership between Wairewa Rūnanga and Te Taumutu Rūnanga, and the New Zealand Government. We bring together mātauranga Māori and innovative technology to help understand our world and navigate the future together.
At the heart of Tāwhaki is a dual kaupapa (purpose) to heal and rejuvenate the unique whenua at Kaitorete and advance Aotearoa’s aerospace industry.
We have established our country’s first multi-use Aerospace Research Centre and are well underway with our rejuvenation work.
